Chef Yia Vang Is Redefining Success as a Restauranteur | Ep. 40

Having Chef Yia Vang join us for this week's episode was a ton of fun!

You may already be familiar with Yia from Netflix's Iron Chef, the cover of Bon Appétit magazine, one of the many 'Best Restaurant' awards he has received, or by dining at one of his Union Hmong Kitchen locations.

You may be less familiar with Yia's story and the inspiring journey that's led to his successes as a chef and restaurant owner.

In this episode, Yia speaks to how he's performing all of his work in the culinary world as a love letter to his parents. Yia's parents immigrated to the US to escape their war-torn country and provide a brighter future for their children in America. Yia now honors their legacy—and the wider culture of the Hmong people—by sharing their story with millions of people worldwide through the dishes he creates.

We covered a lot of ground, from practical challenges related to making it as a restauranteur to the importance of honoring all the investments of others into you by betting on yourself.

We also teased the idea of our new app: a Tinder spin-off for start-ups and investors. More to come on that soon ;-)

As always, if you like the episode, be sure to subscribe to the show and leave us a review.

Onward and upward, friends!

Last thing: be sure to connect with Yia on Instagram @yiavang70 and follow his work at Union Hmong Kitchen(https://unionkitchenmn.com)
